A California firm has created the Aeroscraft, which looks a lot like zeppelins from years ago.
It uses one third the amount of fuel as a plane carrying cargo. It can also land anywhere, including on the water. It lands and takes off vertically just like a helicopter.
It could also become a cheaper option to carry cargo around the world. The firm’s founder realized a way to compress the helium which allows the airship to control its weight. They are also hoping it can help out militaries and poor areas who do not have airstrips.
The ship has a bulletproof exterior and will not deflate like a balloon if the outer portion is broken.
The firm said they will be available in the middle of 2015, and can be rented for a year.
