The Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR) did a study to show how much budget cuts would impact drug smuggling from Mexico to the US and have come up with some staggering statistics.
Apparently, we’ve scored a lot of weed:
Between January 2005 and October 2011 U.S. Border patrol at the U.S./Mexico border seized over 17 million pounds of pot.
How much weed is that?
That’s equivalent to a 101-foot-tall brick of solid weed. Or a 583-feet-tall, 3-D, joint.
The brick would more than fill the infield of the San Francisco Giants’ AT&T park.
You could build an 11-foot-tall fence of joints to separate the U.S. from Mexico... and span the border 359 times!
