A Kansas State Supreme Court has ruled that exotic dancers should be able to collect unemployment when they’re fired.
A club owner claimed the strippers are independent contract workers.
The court found that strict house rules like rates and boundaries meant that the club has a “right of control” over dancers, and that makes the dancers employees instead of talent.
This is good news for dancers who have been denied worker’s compensation, but it could complicate things for those who hoped to get out of the business without their name being on the books.
