In order to avoid the debt ceiling, the US could consider this option: pawning one of our largest tourist attractions to the Federal Reserve... like, Mount Rushmore.
A recent petition suggested the idea - saying the government could buy it back once our cash was back in order.
Although the petition isn’t getting much traction, the idea is getting a lot of attention on social media under the hashtag #PawnTheMountain.
With about 3 million visitors a year, Mount Rushmore rakes in about $168 million a year.
