A bank robber in Lancaster, CA was cornered in a cul-de-sac and shot to death on live TV.

The armed robber took off in his SUV after hitting a Bank of American branch just north of LA. Cops chased him for about 45 miles on the highway until a spike strip took out one of his tires.

He got off the highway but turned onto a dead end street. Cops boxed him in but he refused to show his hands and wouldn't listen to commands.

After a short standoff, the robber shot at the cops through the windshield of the SUV and they fired back and killed him.

TV news cameras in a helicopter overhead got the whole thing live on TV.

No cops were hurt and the shooting is under investigation.
